Lat. Crinum

During the Biedermeier period, the Finnish bourgeoisie began cultivating crinum, a long-lived plant. Crinum belongs to the Amaryllidaceae family and is primarily native to South Africa. It is a striking and fragrant bulbous plant with large, impressive flowers. Older plants lose their leaves in winter and benefit from being repotted each spring in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. During the summer months, the plant can be placed outdoors. Crinum is propagated through offsets.
