Lat. Haemanthus albiflos

The paintbrush plant originates from South Africa, where it grows in arid conditions. The plant has a fist-sized bulb and produces 3 to 5 thick leaves. It prefers a small, tight pot and typically blooms in mid-summer or autumn. The flower appears at the tip of a stalk and resembles a tuft. The paintbrush is a relatively rare plant in Finnish homes. The specimen at the museum Ett Hem dates back to the 1930s and comes from Nääs Manor.
