Lat. Billbergia nutans

Queen's tears, a member of the bromeliad family, was a popular houseplant during the functionalist period of the 1920s. Native to Brazil, it blooms during the darkest time of the year. After flowering, the plant requires a period of rest and should not be watered for about a month. Queen's tears forms funnel-shaped leaf rosettes that grow 40–60 cm long. Its colourful bloom features pink bracts, with flowers displaying green petals edged in blue and bright yellow stamens. The Swedish name 'prästhavre' ('priest's oat') refers to the flower's resemblance to oat heads.
