Lat. Solenostemon scutellarioides

Coleus was a very popular houseplant in rural areas around the turn of the 20th century. Its variegated and colourful leaves are decorative in themselves. The plant is easy to care for but requires plenty of nutrients and light to develop a dense foliage. Coleus is sensitive to winter conditions, so it’s best to propagate new plants from cuttings taken in spring. The plant produces light blue flowers, which can be removed to encourage stronger leaf growth.
