Lat. Philodendron lacerum

Philodendron lacerum is an epiphytic or semi-epiphytic species native to the Caribbean. It was likely brought to Europe around 1829, when its scientific description was first published. The plant has deeply lobed leaves whose appearance changes with age. It occasionally produces small, calla-like flowers. Philodendrons are tropical rainforest climbers that require well-drained soil. The specimen at the museum Ett Hem originates from the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Turku. It was likely acquired in the 1920s for the Phoenix building located by the Market Square in Turku.
