Once Finland’s very first steam-powered dairy, the Temmes Cooperative Dairy operated from 1923 to 1949. The building was designed and constructed by master builder K. O. Aro from Tampere. After the dairy ceased operations, the building was converted into a mill. Over the years, this historic site has also served as a municipal office, commercial space, and a hub for local hobbies and activities. On June 10, 2023, the dairy’s 100th anniversary was celebrated with cake and coffee, live craft demonstrations, and a special Meijerska Lyyli walking tour.

Today, the beautifully preserved dairy building is home to Hinkkilä, a charming vintage and second-hand shop. During the summer months, the square in front of the dairy—Temmes Market Square—comes alive with local events, community sing-alongs, and lively flea markets.
