KokoTeatteri is an independent professional theatre established in 1997 and operating in Kallio, Helsinki. KokoTeatteri's own repertoire consists of new Finnish plays and the Finnish premieres of interesting foreign plays. KokoTeatteri's performances reflect our surrounding society, living both strongly in the present and occasionally bringing phenomena, stories or people from the pages of history into the spotlight.
On the stages of KokoTeatteri, dance, physical theatre, strong stage images, absurd and playful reality, magical realism and a socially conscious approach meet. We want to offer the audience a space where diversity can be seen and where sexual minorities in particular can find stories, a place to identify and strength from their own community.
The prestigious Koko Jazz Club also operates in the same space as KokoTeatteri. Club nights with high-quality jazz music are an essential part of KokoTeatteri's everyday life. With the club, live music also plays a major role in KokoTeatter's performances, where the best of Finnish musicians perform whenever possible.
