Kumpula manor was built in 1841. The building was privately owned until 1893, when it was purchased by the City of Helsinki. The manor and its grounds operated as a dairy farm from 1893 to 1905, after which the building housed a venereal disease hospital until 1960. After this, a primary school was opened in the manor, until it closed with the comprehensive school reform in 1977.
The manor has since been under the management of the University of Helsinki. The building housed the faculty office for a while. The geological collections of Luomus were on display in the manor until 2024.
The manor is currently not open to the public.
