The agricultural landscapes of Kuhajärvi in Sulkava have been designated as a nationally valuable landscape area since 1995. Nationally valuable landscape areas are representative examples of Finland’s cultural and natural heritage, formed through the interaction of nature and traditional land use.
The Kuhajärvi agricultural landscapes are located north of Sulkava’s center. The area features beautiful rural scenery where the views shift from open cultivated fields to fine lake vistas and pine-covered ridges. The landscape area is extensive and cannot be taken in at a single glance. The broadest view opens from Väätälänmäki hill, where the panorama stretches far to the north and east across houses, fields, lakes, and forests.
