The dog park is located in the center of Sulkava at Haapakuja 5. The park features a fenced area open to all, covering 1,800 m², and is equipped with lighting. There is a waste bin for cleaning up after dogs, and a parking area is located right next to the park. Dogs are allowed to run freely within the park, but owners are always responsible for their pets.
At the edge of the park, an information board outlines the dog park rules and guidelines to ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone.
Guidelines for Dog Park Users:
Run free: This is the only place where your dog is allowed to play off-leash. Collars and harnesses can pose a risk of injury during play.
Play safely: Do not bring unvaccinated, sick, or female dogs in heat into the park. Be mindful of sufficient recovery time after illness or heat.
Avoid conflicts: Do not throw sticks, stones, or snowballs, and do not bring your own toys into the park.
Play can get lively (and messy): You are responsible for your clothing — greetings and play among dogs may get you dirty, too. Children are allowed in the park only under adult supervision.
Owners are always responsible: Every owner is accountable for their dog. Any damage caused by a dog is always the owner’s responsibility.
Greet first: Owners greet each other before letting the dogs interact. Make sure beforehand that your dog fits in with the dogs already in the enclosure. Only social and playful dogs should join the group.
Make room for others: Even less social dogs have the right to enjoy off-leash time when the park is empty. Dogs aggressive toward others must always yield to other visitors. Owners of social dogs can also be flexible and allow some off-leash time for less social dogs.
Keep the entrance calm: Do not let your dog rush at the gate or fence, and ensure others can enter the park without your dog being overly intrusive.
Take care of shared property: Damaging the enclosure is strictly forbidden. If your dog digs a hole, you must fill it back in. Leave the area in at least as good condition as when you arrived, and report any issues you notice. Every user must clean up after their dog and place waste in the bin provided.
Respect the neighbors: Ensure your dog’s barking does not disturb the nighttime peace between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
