In the centre of Konnevesi, right beside Highway 69, stands Anima Vitae – an impressive illuminated sculpture made of stainless steel that forms part of Konnevesi’s public art landscape. The work was designed and created by Tuomas Pynnönen, an artist and lighting designer originally from Konnevesi, known for his ability to blend modern light art with architectural form.
Completed in 2014, Anima Vitae, meaning “the spirit of life”, symbolises constant motion and the energy of life itself. Its bright light and reflective steel surface mirror both the clarity of Konnevesi’s natural surroundings and the vitality of its people. The artwork brings a touch of contemporary art to the heart of the village and invites passers-by to pause and see how light and form together create something timelessly beautiful.
Anima Vitae stands as a reminder that even a small work of art can illuminate an entire community – both literally and symbolically.
