Silmutsaari

Silmutsaari
Situated at the northern end of Silmusaari Island, this shelter is maintained by the Municipality of Konnevesi and has quickly become a favourite among boaters and local visitors. The location is stunning – facing west, the shelter catches the last golden rays of the setting sun, making it an ideal place to stop, light a campfire and enjoy the calm of the lake.
The surrounding area offers several flat tent sites for overnight stays, and new facilities such as a dry toilet and a woodshed are planned to complement the site. The shelter itself has an interesting story: it originally stood on Lapinsalo Island before being dismantled, moved and rebuilt here on Silmusaari. The structure has been renovated and fitted with a new roof, providing a comfortable and well-sheltered place for travellers.
A short path connects the Silmusaari lean-to shelter with the nearby Silmu Sauna Cabin, allowing visitors to combine sauna, camping and lakeside relaxation in one peaceful setting. Together they form one of Konnevesi’s most charming outdoor spots.
The Silmusaari shelter is where old craftsmanship meets new life – a welcoming place to rest, watch the sunset and feel the quiet pulse of Southern Konnevesi’s nature.
