Covering about six hectares, Ruunalampi lies in the forests of Ruuskankylä, Konnevesi. The pond belongs to the Siikakoski–Putero joint owners’ association and is leased to Konnekoukku for recreational trout fishing. The first salmon were stocked in the spring of 2021, and new stockings are carried out each year to ensure a lively and rewarding fishing experience.
Ruunalampi was created as a peaceful, easily accessible fishing site for locals and visitors alike. On the shore, anglers can find a traditional Finnish kota shelter, perfect for making a campfire, cooking their catch or simply enjoying a break. Lighting fires elsewhere around the pond is prohibited, helping preserve the site’s natural beauty and tranquility. The calm surface of the pond reflects the surrounding forest and sky, creating a truly serene setting for relaxation and nature-based recreation.
The site is managed by Konnekoukku, a local company founded in spring 2021 to meet the growing demand fornearby trout fishing destinations. The company’s goal is to support the development of fishing tourism in the Konnevesi area, offering an alternative to the popular salmon and trout rivers of the region.
Ruunalampi represents the best of Konnevesi’s fishing culture – peaceful waters, responsible use of nature and the joy of a fresh catch in a beautiful setting.
