Etelä-Konnevesi National Park

Etelä-Konnevesi National Park
Established in 2014, South Konnevesi National Park spans the municipalities of Rautalampi and Konnevesi, forming one of Central Finland’s four national parks. Despite being the newest, it has quickly become the most popular, thanks to its accessibility, diverse terrain and breathtaking scenery. The Konnevesi side offers some of the park’s finest views – a landscape of islands, ridges and water that captures the essence of Finnish nature.
The park is a paradise for both hikers and paddlers. It features three main hiking routes: the accessible Vuori-Kalaja Trail, the challenging Three Hills Trail and the scenic Loukkuvuori Loop.
On the water, South Konnevesi is a paddler’s dream. The lake’s archipelago is dotted with islands rich in nature and character – from the blueberry-filled forests of Lapinsalo to the sandy shores of Iso-Pyysalo, where you might imagine yourself on a distant coast. The waters are clear and bright, though dotted with rocks and shoals that demand careful navigation. Local businesses offer canoe and kayak rentals, and the municipalities of Konnevesi and Rautalampi maintain several marked paddling routes.
South Konnevesi National Park showcases the wild, pure and rugged nature of Konnevesi – a place where silence, water and forest meet. It is an invitation to slow down, to breathe, and to experience the beauty of Finland’s lake country at its most authentic.
