For decades, Yläinen has been considered one of the most storied and sought-after rapids on the Konnevesi trout route. As the highest of the Korholankoski rapids, it offers a beautifully structured flow that challenges and rewards fly fishers of all levels.

The rapid is particularly famous for its large, powerful brown trout, which have built Yläinen’s reputation among anglers across Finland. Strong grayling populations also thrive in its clear, varied waters.

The current is gentle yet expressive, with rocky sections, deep pockets and shifting flows that keep every cast interesting. The fishable stretch is roughly 400 metres, flowing directly into Keskinen rapid and further into the final rapid of the route, Hannulankoski.

Yläinen is a place where the essence of the Konnevesi trout waters truly comes alive — peaceful nature, clear water and the ever-present chance of a remarkable catch.
