The Pieni-Selkiäinen information point acts as both the starting point of the nature trail and the designated parking area for visitors heading toward the bird tower. Located in the village of Särkisalo at the edge of the Mertajärvi–Pieni-Selkiäinen Natura 2000 conservation area, the site provides visitors with information about the region’s wetland habitats, local birdlife and the ecological value of the marsh.
From the information point, the trail first follows the boundary of a clearing before turning into a lightly thinned pine forest. The path then leads to the edge of the protected area, where wooden boardwalks guide visitors across the wetland toward the tower. The route is easy to follow and offers a pleasant introduction to the diverse habitats found in the area.
Thanks to its accessibility and clear signage, the information point is the perfect place to begin a visit—whether you’re planning a spring birdwatching trip, a peaceful nature walk, or an outing suitable for the whole family.
