Pyhäjärvi is a protected Natura 2000 wetland and one of the region’s most valuable bird habitats. Its surrounding marshlands create ideal conditions for numerous species, and restoration work has helped the area thrive. Spring migration is especially impressive: the lake attracts waders, ducks, raptors and, on lucky days, true rarities such as the lesser spotted eagle.

A marked trail leads to the tower from Pirttitaipaleentie, following the shoreline for about one kilometre. The blue waymarks guide visitors through beautiful lakeside scenery where birds can often be spotted even before reaching the tower. During wet periods the trail may be soft, so waterproof shoes are recommended.

From the tower, panoramic views open across the wide wetland, where the sounds of nature, open water meadows and active birdlife create a peaceful and inspiring atmosphere. It’s an excellent destination for birdwatchers, photographers and anyone seeking a quiet moment in nature.
