Paimio Nature Trail invites visitors to enjoy the area’s natural attractions among marshes, ponds, rocky ridges, and dense forests. The circular trail is 4 km long.
Along the route, you can experience diverse natural landscapes, take a break by a forest pond, admire the impressive view from the observation tower, or grill sausages at the Väinölä shelter. Nearby, the fascinating “Devil’s Field” rock formation is also worth a visit. The trail can be completed in about an hour, but it’s worth taking your time to enjoy a snack, watch birds, read the information boards, and appreciate the scenery. Easily accessible yet offering a true sense of wilderness and tranquility, the trail is perfect for a peaceful nature experience.
The first section of the trail is flat, featuring duckboards, an old peat railway base, a traditional forest path, and a small bridge over a stream. Around the halfway point, the terrain becomes a gentle rocky slope with a rest area at the top. Beyond the rest spot, the path is more demanding and not recommended for those with limited mobility — but even a return hike to the rest area is rewarding.
In wet weather, the rocky surfaces and wooden structures can be slippery, and some parts may be muddy. The trail is not maintained in winter. Hiking is at your own risk, and it’s recommended to bring your own kindling. The route is designed for walking — the sensitive environment cannot withstand mountain biking.
For more information, see the Paimio Nature Trail brochure.
The trail is maintained by Paimio-Seura ry in cooperation with the City of Paimio. The route runs mostly through private land and is located in Iso-Heikoiset, about 6 km from Paimio town centre.
