This path is a well-known war memorial in the region. Even if you don’t reach the top, you will have wonderful views of the Lyngenfjord and the Midnight Sun in the summer.

This path was built by prisoners of war during World War II. At the top, you will find a reconstructed bunker where you can stay overnight or take a break. Several information boards along the path provide information about the war era in Storfjord/Omasvuotna.

Look for the “Krigsminne” sign by the E6/E8, which leads to near the start of the path. Start your kike here and follow the path up the mountainside.

Worth knowing: It’s a good idea to fill your water bottle under the waterfall on the lower section of the path as there are no other opportunities further along.

NB: Watch out for rockslides, especially in the spring and after heavy rain.

Starting point

  • By the E8 highway, signposted “Krigsminne”, approx. 10 km south of Skibotn

  • Clear path/info signs along the route
