In 2009, the small Coastal Sami village of Skardalen received the status of national cultural landscape due to its multitude of different types of cultivated land and cultural heritage.
Park your car in the parking bay on the upper side of the E6 highway. Follow the marked path through the village and meadows until you reach a tractor road. After a while, cross the bridge over the river and then follow the path along the riverbank up to the valley.
At Badjegieddi, which is around a one-hour walk from the E6, there are remains of turf huts used by Sami reindeer herders before World War II. There are also ruins from the mining era, including slag heaps and a line for transporting out the iron ore. Further along the route, you will see Nissonašgállu, one of the largest Sami sacrificial stones in North Troms. You will reach an open gamme (turf hut) after approx. 5.5 km.
