Spåkenes/Spoahkanjárga offers you a wonderful historical and nature-based experience! With a spectacular view of the Lyngenfjord and a coastal fort dating from World War II, this spot is well worth visiting. The Germans built the coastal fort during the World War II and numerous bunkers and gun sites remain.
Follow the tractor road, which becomes a hiking path after approx. 700 m. A marked path leads round the coastal fort. Information boards detail the fort’s history.
Alternative: Another path leads to a purpose-built lookout for birdwatchers. Spring/autumn is a good time to watch migratory birds. The path crosses a marsh which can be wet.
