According to the creator, the statue depicts Jesus on the cross and preaching, the Mother of God, and the past and future of humankind. Together with its buildings, the work forms a significant cultural-historical ensemble.

The statue is located in the village of Mahlu, along the Saarijärvi–Pylkönmäki road. It was restored in 1973 following the guidelines of Kain Tapper.
