In Svedjeham harbour at the far end of Björköby (about 40 kilometers from Vaasa), in the heart of the unique Kvarken Archipelago World Heritage Site, you’ll find Café Salteriet – a charming archipelago café located in a historic red salting house from the early 1900s. Here visitors can sit down in the old fishing harbour and enjoy homemade pastries, good food and local flavours while the sea and the traditional boat houses create a warm and atmospheric setting.
The café is a popular stop for excursionists, hikers and nature lovers visiting the Saltkaret observation tower and the scenic nature trails in the area.
Its location in the middle of the old fishing harbour makes the visit an experience in itself. The red boathouses, sea views and the unique nature of the World Heritage landscape create a special atmosphere. Nearby you will also find hiking trails, the Saltkaret observation tower and a boat museum that tells the story of life in the archipelago.
Visit Salteriet's web page for information on menus and opening hours.
